In Hindu mythology, "Lord Hanuman" is a central character in the Indian epic Ramayana. He is worshiped for his strength, devotion and loyalty. Lord Hanuman is also known as Maruti, Bajrangbali, and Pavanputra.
Hanuman is renowned for his devotion to Lord Rama and his valiant acts, but he does not have any typical enemy like other gods. But there are some such characters from the Ramayana who share a fickle relationship with Hanuman:
1. Ravana: Ravana is the demon king of Lanka, and perhaps the character in the Ramayana closest to being a villainous counterpart to Hanuman. Ravana, kidnaps Lord Rama's wife Sita and takes her to Lanka. Hanuman is an important character in the Ramayana by Valmiki and is the bestial counterpart of the god Rama which means by helping Rama as his devotee he helped to rescue Rama's wife Sita. Hanuman's strength, agility, and loyalty to Lord Rama are ever-present sources of guidance and inspiration for the heroes of the Ramaayana, but it is his bravery in unarmed combat with Ravana and his forces that bring him into direct conflict with the demon personality of the structure.
2. Indrajit (Meghnad): Indrajit also named as Meghnad and Meghanada, is the Ravana's son and is a great warrior. He is powerful in both magic and arms and poses enough threat to Lord Rama and to challenge him and his allies. In battle between Rama's army and Ravana's forces, Indrajit thrice strikes on Hanuman and results in a serious encounter with Hanuman.
Although Hanuman has to defeat many of his nemeses in the course of the Ramayana, such as demons and other monsters, victory is not in the least bit his concern but instead the duty to Lord Rama whom he serves with his very heart and soul. Hanuman's faithfullness, valour, and loyalty are the reasons the good prevails over the evil in the legend. So, even as we have characters that are against Hanuman or antagonize with his aims, at the end of the day, his true loyalty is to dharma and the conserving of Lord Rama and his characteristics.
